Javarebel, an innovative solution developed by the Estonian software development company Webmedia, was given the productivity award at the Product Excellence & Productivity awards gala held in the US last night.

The event was held for the nineteenth time to acknowledge innovative solutions and technological achievements in the field of software development. The awards ceremony took place in the Software Development West 2009 Conference & Expo, which is held this week in Santa Clara, California.

The fact that the Jolt jury specifically singled us out from these five, once again proves that our developers are truly world-class

During the last 18 years, the Jolt awards, which are also regarded as the “Oscars” of the software development world, have been given to books and products that have “jolted” the industry with their profound importance, and have contributed to the efficiency, lower time cost and simplicity of the programming process.

According to Ivo Mägi, development manager at Webmedia, making it to the five finalists was an immense recognition for the Javarebel team. “The fact that the Jolt jury specifically singled us out from these five, once again proves that our developers are truly world-class,” he added. “Well done!”

Javarebel is an innovation developed at Webmedia research and development department, with the purpose of improving the efficiency of Java developers’ work. Javarebel enables programmers to check the behaviour of programs written in Java programming languages immediately after making the changes. At the same time, using traditional tools, after making each change in the code they have to wait for the result for dozens of minutes, depending on the size of the application.  This significantly decreases the efficiency of programmers’ work.

The base author of the Javarebel idea is Jevgeni Kabanov, leader of the Webmedia R&D team. Javarebel is marketed under the Zeroturnaround trade mark, and licenses have been sold to virtually every country in the world. The awarded innovation is used by over 10 000 programmers, and test results show that it increases the efficiency of work by a minimum of 8% per day. Javarebel has obtained patent protection in the US and EU.
