Juha Olavi Korhonen to join Webmedia Group as Director of Human resources

Juha Olavi Korhonen, after leaving the post of General Manager of the Estonian Division of Playtech in October, starts as the Director of Human Resources at Webmedia Group today. His core responsibility is to ensure professional development of the area of human resources in the company.

According to Priit Alamäe, Chairman of the Board at Webmedia Group, the company is facing serious challenges, because Webmedia, which currently employs 600 people, is expecting to grow to a thousand employees in the next few years. „At the same time, we aim to retain our employee-friendly approach and offer our staff the best toolset for making the world a better place by means of IT,“ he added. Alamäe stressed that Juha Olavi Korhonen is a valuable and long awaited addition to Webmedia management team. „We are planning considerable international growth, and I am sincerely glad that the timing of filling the HR director’s post matched Juha’s plans,“ said Alamäe.

According to Juha Olavi Korhonen, Webmedia has shown remarkable growth in the recent years. „In the next few years, however, we are expecting a lot of fresh talent to join our team, as well as an international breakthrough with clients. This means that for me, the timing of joining Webmedia was extremely suitable, and I am eagerly looking forward to cooperation with the Webmedia management team,“ he added.

Juha Olavi Korhonen has lived in Estonia since early 1990s. He has served in the Estonian Defence Forces as an instructor and participated in several foreign UN missions. Korhonen has studied Psychology and Strategic Management in the University of Tartu. In 2004 he assumed the role of HR manager at Playtech Estonia, and later became HR Director of Playtech Group. During the past two years Korhonen was the General Manager of the Estonian Division of Playtech.
